STARTING LINE

Where do we meet?    The Starting Line is at Cat and Fiddle Pub, 6530 Sunset Blvd Los Angeles, CA 90028.  They have valet.  Street parking is probably iffy.  It's probably equal distance between the Hollywood and Highland Red Line Metro Stop and the Hollywood and Vine Red Line Metro Stop.

What time to I get there?  5 PM is the starting time.  We will be heading out to our next Pit Stop around 6:15, so don't be late!!

Local hotels

Unfortunately, it's summer which means lots of tourists, driving up the prices of hotels in Hollywood.  Here are a few options.  There might be other hotels that are a little farther away but a fairly cheap cab ride.  If you have any questions, feel free to email me!

Expensive:  W Hotel, Redbury, Roosevelt, Loews

Middle/Expensive:  Best Western Hollywood Hills hotel, Universal City Hilton or Sheraton, BLVD Hotel in Studio City

"Cheap"er options:  Motel 6 on Whitley, Hollywood Downtowner, Dixie (although may be expensive for some reason).  These are pretty basic, won't be luxurious, but you can pass out there and not have a crack whore in the next room.

Is this a blog?  Yes, yes it is.

A blog?  Is this 2003?   I wish, because then I would be turning 30.  I needed some way to impart info about the party and since some people I know (and married) refuse to be on Facebook, this is how it's getting disseminated

Where do we meet?  Starting location will be announced prior to the race.  On the blog.  So keep checking.

Where, in general, is the race?  Hollywood.

What should I wear?  Look cute!  Have fun!  We're not going clubbing, but we're not sitting on a porch drinking moonshine.  Dress like you're going to a bar or two or three in Hollywood.

What about shoes?  Isn't it a race?  Yes, it's a race designed by me, an extremely lazy person who does not like to exercise and wants to get drunk.  So at most, you will be walking/running/stumbling six or seven blocks at any one time.  Wear whatever shoes you feel you can do that in without walking around barefoot by the end of the night.  Anyone caught walking around barefoot in Hollywood will be immediately sent home and given a tetanus shot. 

Are there prizes?  Probably not.  You get to drink and hang out with friends, though.

Do I bring a gift?  Absolutely not! Your presence is gift enough.  If you really want to make me happy, buy me a drink, buy Grant a drink, make a new friend, have a good time.  If you want to really, really make me happy, spend whatever money you would have spent on a gift on a cab, Uber, Lyft, whatever new car service app they invent in the next 3 weeks, or a hotel room.  DO NOT DRINK AND DRIVE!!!!

Can I invite friends?  Yes, feel free to bring other charming, witty, fun people

What do I need to bring to compete on this Amazing Race?  A smart phone or buddy up with someone with a smart phone.  Knowledge of general trivia and bad puns. 

I don't know my way around Hollywood, I have a bad sense of direction, I'm afraid I will get lost?  I too, have a horrible sense of direction, cannot read a map, or drive a stick shift.  It's why I would be terrible on the real Amazing Race, so I had to design my own.  The goal is to get from point to point while having a laugh.  If you absolutely can't figure out the answers, ask me and I'll tell you where to go!  I'll give out my cell number as we get closer to the event
